1. Is there an expiration date for the test results?

The results are valid for three years for TCL Health Science programs.

2. What does TEAS mean and who developed the test?

TEAS is the acronym for Test of Essential Academic Skills.  The TEAS test is a product of Assessment Technologies Institute, LLC.

3. What kind of test is the TEAS?

It is an entrance test for students seeking admission to the Health Sciences programs at Technical College of the Lowcountry.

4. What is the purpose of the TEAS test?

The entrance test provides objective measurement of critical reading ability, basic mathematics, science, English and language usage.

5. What is the minimum passing score for the TEAS test?

Composite average 73% for entrance into the Associate programs (ADN, PTA, and Radiology Technology).

Composite average 67% for entrance into the Diploma program (Surgical Technology).

6. Are calculators allowed during testing?

Calculators are not allowed.

7. What are the consequences if the test average is not achieved?

Students who score less than the minimum composite average may retake the TEAS one time in a 12 month period.

8. What is the cost of the TEAS test?

The cost is $25.

9. Where can I make the payment for the TEAS test?

Pay the Cashier in Building 3 anytime between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

10. When can I take the TEAS test?

Testing is offered Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  This schedule varies between semesters; therefore, you must contact the Testing Center staff at 843-525-8344 or helpdesk@tcl.edu to make an appointment.

13. Do I need an appointment to take the TEAS test?

You do not need an appointment during a semester but you must allow 15 minutes to check in at the Testing Center and 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete the test.  You must make an appointment between semesters because the Testing Center schedule varies.

14. What items do I need to take to the Testing Center on the day of the test?

A fee receipt from the Cashier and a photograph ID.

15. How long does it take to complete the test?

Allow 15 minutes to check in at the Testing Center and 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete the test.

16. When do I receive my test results?

You can view your test results after completing the test and print them at home by logging into atitesting.com.

17. When I complete the test, what do I do next?

You must make an appointment to meet with your Health Sciences advisor.
