TCL - Testing Center
Technical College of the Lowcountry provides testing center services for candidates taking several different types of online and paper/pencil tests. ASSET and COMPASS placement testing helps ensure a student's academic success. Specialized testing and academic testing are also available for students. TEAS testing is offered to students who wish to enter a Health Sciences program. Pearson VUE offers testing in various technical fields such as IT and Professional Licensure and Certification.
TCL is listed with the Consortium of College Testing Centers which provides proctoring services for students enrolled at other colleges and universities. TCL students may take a Credit by Examination test prior to beginning a semester to qualify exempting a course. CLEP testing also provides an opportunity for students with knowledge and experience in a subject to obtain course credit without actually attending classes. TCL students enrolled in distance learning courses may take tests in a monitored environment. Academic testing is also available for other South Carolina technical college students.
The Testing Center area contains twenty-four Internet accessible computers. The workstations contain side and front panels for test security and candidate privacy. The Testing Center is equipped with a camera surveillance system which allows the test administrator to monitor all testing candidates. Testing candidates must abide by the Testing Center Rules.
Administrative and testing fees may be associated with placement and specialized tests. For payment by check, your driver's license and Student ID, if applicable, must be presented at the time of payment. All checks are subject to the dishonored check policy of the college. There is no fee for academic testing for TCL students or other South Carolina technical college students.
